5 Healthy Steamed Snacks You Should Try at Home…With Recipes!

Who doesn’t enjoy a good evening snack? There is so much time from lunch to dinner that one is bound to get a little peckish between the two meals. Hence, the importance of the evening snack. But, in India, a lot of our snacks tend to be fried and unhealthy.

That’s why we here at FoodyBuddy decided to come up with a list of snacks that are good for the body in addition to being delicious. So, without any further ado, here is our list of 5 healthy steamed snacks you should try at home and their recipes:

#1) Momos


Let’s start this list off, with an instant classic: Momos. The great thing about momos is that you can use a variety of different things for the filling. A variety of meats, vegetables, or a combination of the two, they all work perfectly to give you a delicious evening snack.

#2) Kobbari Kudumulu (Indian Spiced Steam Rice Balls)


Here’s a fun little snack that comes to us from Andhra Pradesh – Kobbari Kudumulu or Indian Spiced Steam Rice Balls – which are made of rice rava and coconut as the major ingredients.

#3) Rava Idly


If you’re a  resident of Bangalore, then there’s a very good chance that you eat idlis on a pretty regular basis. So, we figured we’d give you a slightly different version of it to try out at home: Rava Idly.u

As the name would suggest, rava idlis are made of rava and are an extremely healthy option for those who want to indulge in a healthy evening snack.

#4) Kaman Dhokla


Ahh, dhoklas. One of Gujarat’s most famous exports, the snack is consumed with relish all around India. Today, we come to you with a variant on the original called Khaman Dhokla.

Kaman Dhokla is made of chickpea flour and offers a dish that is healthy and delicious in equal measure for you to serve up every evening.

#5) Methi Muthiya


Muthiyas are veggie spicy dumplings which are also multi-grained are a lesser-known export from Gujarat. They are, by far, one of the best options for a healthy evening snack, though,  and we are making it our mission to spread the word about their awesomeness!
