We’re here to welcome April with our Chef of the Week feature and this week, we have Chef Sarika Bajpai!
She is one of the veterans of FoodyBuddy and started selling on the platform as a means to keep herself engaged. “I quit my job (as Research Scientist in SPI Pharma) because of my son, so I wanted to engage myself after leaving the job and was having interest in cooking,” she says.
Being one of the long-time cooks on FoodyBuddy, Chef Sarika has sold over 2000 meals on the platform. She says that “the happiness on the buyer’s face after eating my food” is what keeps her active as a seller.
She is a specialist in North Indian food and her favourite dishes include some North Indian classics such as Aloo Paratha, Chole, Rajma, Pav Bhaji, Paneer Butter Masala, and Shahi Paneer.
Her customers certainly concur as Chef Sarika’s top-selling dishes are her Aloo Paratha and Chole with Aloo Kulche. Speaking of customers, she remembers one seller in specific saying, “An Aunty named Sumana Chatterji, she used to say that my smiley face makes all my dishes very tasty and makes them happy as well.”
Finally, in closing, Chef Sarika has some words of advice for new chefs: “Never do the cooking thinking that you have to complete an order but always keep in mind that you are cooking for your family.”
