Dish of the Week, 5th June 2018 – Creme Brulee by Chef Prachi (With Recipe!)

Hello, Foodies and Buddies!

This week’s edition of Dish of the Week brings to us something unique, decadent, and delicious – Creme Brulee by Chef Prachi.

In case you were wondering what exactly Creme Brulee is, Chef Prachi provided us with a great description of the dish. “Creme Brulee means burnt cream. It’s a vanilla cream custard with a hard layer of caramel on top. It’s a rich dessert to serve your guest. It’s a traditional French dessert.,” she said.

It is a dish close to Chef Prachi’s heart. “I went for a Europe trip in 2012. There I had Creme Brulee for the first time in Paris and I simply loved it. Before starting my trip, I researched what things I should try in Paris and this was one of them,” she explained.

Creme Brulee is a dish steeped in history with recipes found as far back as the 17th century! But, don’t let that fool you as countless people love the dish even today – including Chef Prachi’s own two-year-old daughter 🙂

Chef Prachi – being a very generous soul – also provided us with all the ingredients as well as the full recipe:

Ingredients for 2 Servings of Creme Brulee:
Cream: 200 ml Amul whipping cream.
Eggs: 2 Egg yolk, separated.
Vanilla Extract: 1 Tsp.
Sugar: 2 Tbsp.

Process :
Pre Heat Oven on 180 c
1. Boil the cream.
2. Mix egg yolk and sugar using a whisk (do not beat for longer).
3. Add vanilla extract to egg mixture.
4. Slowly pour warm cream into egg mixture, keep whisking the mixture while pouring cream.
5. Pour mixer in ramekins.
6. Put ramekins into a tray, fill the tray with warm water .
7. Put the tray in the oven.
8. Bake for 25 mins and let them cool down.
9. Put them in the fridge for minimum 3 hours.
10 Take them out, put sugar on ramekins and use a culinary torch to caramelise the sugar.
11. Serve them with strawberries, raspberries or blueberries.

It is a fairly simple process if you follow the recipe says Chef Prachi and the only thing to be kept in mind is the importance of adding the Vanilla Extract.

Exotic dishes seem to be a speciality for Chef Prachi as is evidenced by other dishes she wants to make famous on FoodyBuddy. “I love salads, so Greek salad and also Broccoli soup are the ones,” she said!

Thank you so much for your time, Chef Prachi, and a special shoutout for sharing this awesome recipe for your famous Creme Brulee. Everyone here at FoodyBuddy wishes you all the very best going forward 🙂
