Hello, Foodies and Buddies!
We have an amazing Indian dessert as our Dish of the Week for this edition: Puran Poli by Chef Shraddha – and let me tell you, you’re in for a treat today.
Chef Shraddha describes the dish as a traditional Maharashtrian sweet which is made regularly in Maharashtrian households during festivals.
When asked if this is one of her favourite dishes, Chef Shraddha replies, “Yes, it is my favourite dish!”
“It is a special dish with its roots dating back to our ancestors who used to make this on special occasions and invite all the relatives, friends and family members to share the joy,” she says with a smile.
Chef Shraddha describes Pural Poli as, “Indian sweet flatbread made with Love, Chana Dal, Sugar/Jaggery and Ghee.”
She also told us some of the challenges associated with the dish. “To name a few challenges, the exact measurements of the raw materials have to be precise. The amount of time that the Puran needs to be on specific heat is very crucial as it decides the dryness of the overall Puran Poli.” Very insightful comments for a true master of the dish.
As a specialist in Maharashtrian cuisine, Chef Shraddha also hopes to make other traditional dishes such as Pithala Bhakari and Misal Pav famous on FoodyBuddy.
Finally, Chef Shraddha had this to say in closing. “I would just like to appreciate the fact that this platform has given many home chefs the wings to fly an chase their food dreams!”
Thank you so much for the beautiful words, Chef Shraddha, and thank you so much for being such an important part of the FoodyBuddy family 🙂
