Chef of the Week, 7th December 2018 – Pooja Chaturvedi

Hello, Foodies and Buddies!

It’s time for our first Chef of the Week column for December and this time around we have Chef Pooja Chaturvedi who recently crossed the 1000 Meals Sold Milestone on FoodyBuddy!

We caught up with Chef Pooja and asked her a few questions about her FoodyBuddy journey starting with how she got started on this platform.

She replied, “One of my passions is cooking and Karan – my husband – always asked me to start a restaurant. Having the thought of running a restaurant sometimes use to give me chills but somewhere in my heart I always wished to have one of my own someday.

” I came to know about FoddyBuddy and discussed with my husband about it. Within minutes, we both decided to go for it. Within one hour we even planned what all dishes we are going to serve and some other details like packaging materials, etc, and now I can proudly say, I have my own restaurant!”

What a lovely story, ma’am!

Chef Pooja described to us what keeps her going and active on FoodyBuddy even after selling over a 1000 meals.

She said, “To start with, cooking is my passion and my life’s purpose is to bring a smile to people’s faces through different ways and one of which is delicious food. What inspires me are two things. One,  the unconditional support from my family: my husband, my parents in law, Neha and Apeksha (sisters), my mother and my son. Second is the unconditional support from my extended family i.e. my apartment – Mantri Celestia. Their constant support and appreciation motivates me to cook new dishes.”

“Before going to bed every day, I go through all the feedback and testimonials shared by Celestians. I really enjoy when someone says they recall their mother after eating my food or someone saying that now they will sleep like a baby after having my food.
I get a sense of achieving something in my life by reading these testimonials daily and prepare myself to cook something new and amazing next day.”

“Also, I would like to appreciate Akil’s (FoodyBuddy’s co-founder and CEO) support throughout this endeavour of mine. FoodyBuddy is a great platform for people like me. FoodyBuddy did not just help me in selling food but also in connecting with people.”

“Through FoodyBuddy, I came to know the wonderful and amazing people of Mantri Celestia, became friends with them, know their likes and their taste. I really enjoy customising my dishes for each of them as per their taste. Once again, I would like to thank FoddyBuddy for connecting with wonderful Celestians.”

Chef Pooja went on to describe her specialities which are ordered quite regularly.

“My specialities are Paneer Malai Kofta, Gatte Ke Sabji, Dal Kachori, Parthas – Gobi, Alu, Onion, Dal, etc – Chapati, Kheer, Panjabi Kadi Pakoda, Chole, Meethi Puri, Daal Palak!”

Chef Pooja’s buyers certainly agree that her food is amazing and she even described some great interactions she has had with her Foodies.

She said, “One instance, one Foody told me that post placing order for Malai Kofta, her daughter was next to the phone waiting the whole time for my call to let them know that their food was ready. Another time a Foody said that she was unwell but after the dinner, I made for her she was full of energy. I even made sisters with one Foody!”

We asked Chef Pooja if she had any words of advice for new Buddies, and she replied, “I would like to appreciate all the Buddies of Mantri Celestia for maintaining high standards in all the dishes they prepare and I believe same should be continued by new Buddies too. After all, “There is no love sincerer than the love of food!””

Well said, ma’am.

We quizzed Chef Pooja on what her future plans entailed and she replied, “To continue this journey with lots of new mouth-watering dishes, to make new friends, and to bring a smile on everyone’s face with a lot of support from Celestians!”

And finally, Chef Pooja had one last story to share with us. She said, “Best compliment I have ever received was this: Had I been a chef who serves food in the jungle, even a lion would turn to vegetarian food. This is by my 7-year-old son, Luv!”
