Hello, Foodies and Buddies!
It’s time for a new Dish of the Week column and on this edition, we have awesome Pin Wheel Samosas by Chef Shalini!
What is a Pin Wheel Samosa exactly, you ask? Chef Shalini explained, “This is an interesting twist on the popular Indian snack – Samosa – with a great taste. I love making and eating it!”
It is one of Chef Shalini’s favourite dishes and she told us that she learned this innovative creation from her mother-in-law!
Chef Shalini was even kind enough to provide us with a full recipe for the dish which you can find here:
i) One cup Maida.
ii) Two tablespoon Sooji
iii) Half tablespoon Salt
iv) Two tablespoon Oil
v) 1/3rd cup Water
Knead the dough and keep it covered with a wet cloth for 30-45 minutes.
i) Four boiled Potatoes – medium sized.
ii) One tablespoon Green Chilli
iii) Two tablespoon Coriander Powder
iv) Half tablespoon Red Chilli
v) Half tablespoon Garam Masala.
vi) One tablespoon Dry Mango Powder
vii) Freshly chopped Green Coriander.
Mix well all of the above ingredients well to create the filling.
Divide the dough into parts and roll it into thin sheets.
Spread one part of the filling evenly over the dough then roll the dough sheet gently 3-4 times.
Then slice the dough sheet with a shaping knife.
Take three tablespoons of Maida and 1/4 cup of Water for making the liquid to dip the samosas in before frying.
Deep fry in oil until golden brown.
Chef Shalini also mentioned that the only challenge with preparing this dish is to take great care while making the dough and rolling the dough sheets.
In closing, we asked Chef Shalini what other dishes she was looking to make famous on FoodyBuddy and she replied, “Homemade fresh Paneer, Kadai Paneer, Besan Laddoo, Coconut Barfi with Dry Fruits, Paneer Butter Masala, Aloo Curry with Poori, and Aloo Tikki Chaat!”
Thank you so much for your time and for sharing your amazing recipe, Chef Shalini and we would like to wish you all the very best going forward 🙂
